Keiki Day Wednesday at Waimea Valley
Starting Wednesday, February 3rd 2016, and every Wednesday throughout the year, Waimea Valley will offer free admission to kama’aina and military children up to 12 years of age. This will be the first time Waimea Valley has offered free admission to the local keiki with hopes to increase the opportunity to visit and learn about an important and sacred ahupua’a, subdivision of land, which goes back to over 700 years of Native Hawaiian history. Special educational and fun activities will be added to Keiki Day Wednesdays, on top of the daily happenings already available in the Valley. Activities include tours of the Valley’s world class botanical garden collections, wildlife, Hawaiian games, hula demonstrations, crafts, music and storytelling with the KÅ«puna (elders). All of which are free as well! “We are pleased to offer this promotion,” said Waimea Valley’s Executive Director, Richard Pezzulo, “we feel Waimea Valley is a treasure for our community to enjoy especially our keiki.”
