La Hoihoi Ea | ||||||
E hoi mai! Return to Thomas Square and celebrate La Hoihoi Ea with a weekend of festivities featuring a free concert, hula performances, cultural demonstrations, health services, family activities, community discussions, Hawaiian food and games, and more. On July 31, 1843, Kamehameha III (Kauikeaouli) established this national holiday to celebrate the restoration of sovereignty to the Hawaiian Kingdom. Honor our history and kūpuna with a flag-raising ceremony at noon. This year, we will be recognizing Judy Napoleon and Haunani-Kay Trask for their patriotism in the Hawaiian movement. For more details and information on events leading up to July 30 & 31, visit www.lahoihoiea.org. | ||||||
